About
Goliath Concrete is a family-owned company based in Lidcombe. The team delivers concreting works across Sydney with a focus on written scope, step-by-step communication, and quality workmanship from preparation through to handover.
Common Issues
Cracked surfaces, uneven edges, and concrete that has shifted over time are not just cosmetic issues. They are usually signs the original base prep was rushed.
Our Approach
At Goliath Concrete, the base is where every job starts. We excavate to the correct depth, compact properly, and use Australian-standard steel reinforcement before any pour. It takes longer to do it this way. That is the point.
Every project is documented in writing before work starts, including scope, materials, and timeline.

Step 1
We visit site, measure the area, and talk through finish options and access. You receive a written quote within 24 hours with scope, materials, and timeline clearly listed.
Step 2
We excavate to the correct depth, remove existing surfaces, and compact the base. Formwork is set and Australian-standard steel mesh or reo is installed before the pour.
Step 3
Concrete is ordered to the required mix and poured to your selected finish: plain, coloured, or exposed aggregate. Expansion cuts are made at the correct intervals.
Step 4
Concrete is protected during the initial cure period. Foot traffic is usually safe after 24 to 48 hours. Vehicles stay off for at least 7 days. Full strength is reached at 28 days.
Step 5
Formwork is removed, spoil is taken away, and the site is cleaned. We then walk you through concrete care and maintenance before handover.
Decision Support
Both are valid options depending on budget, maintenance preference, and site conditions.
| Factor | Concrete | Pavers |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Generally lower installed cost per m2 | Higher installed cost, easier to replace individual units |
| Durability | Long-lasting with correct base preparation | Long-lasting, with replaceable individual units |
| Maintenance | Low, with occasional sealing and joint upkeep | Moderate, joint topping and weed control required |
| Movement | Moves as a slab, expansion joints are critical | Individual units flex and handle ground movement well |
| Appearance | Plain, exposed, coloured, and honed finish options | Wide range of patterns and paving materials |
| Repair | Harder to patch-match when replacing sections | Single pavers can be replaced without full rework |

FAQ
A plain concrete driveway in Sydney is typically around $65 to $95 per square metre. Exposed aggregate is usually around $100 to $150 per m2, while decorative coloured or stencilled options can run from $100 to $200 per m2. For a 50 to 60m2 double driveway, many jobs sit between about $3,500 and $9,000 depending on finish, access, slope, and removal requirements.
A standard residential driveway is commonly completed across 3 working days: preparation and formwork, pour and finish, then cuts and clean-up. You can usually walk on it within 24 to 48 hours and should keep vehicles off for at least 7 days.
Plain concrete is smooth-finished and the most cost-effective option. Exposed aggregate is a decorative finish where the surface paste is washed back to reveal stone, giving more texture, slip resistance, and design variety.
In NSW, residential concreting requires a contractor licence through NSW Fair Trading. Goliath Concrete is licensed by NSW Fair Trading and fully insured. The licence number is supplied at quote stage.
Keep vehicles off for at least 7 days. Foot traffic is commonly safe after 24 to 48 hours. Concrete reaches full design strength at around 28 days.
Every job starts with excavation to correct depth, removal of existing material, and compaction of the subgrade. Road base is installed and compacted, Australian-standard steel reinforcement is set, and joints are planned at correct spacing.
Yes. House slabs are one of Goliath Concrete core services, including reinforcement, thickened edges where required, and engineer-specified slab considerations.
A rough range can be discussed by phone, but an accurate quote needs a site visit. Access, slope, drainage, and existing-surface removal all materially affect final pricing.
